Logistics

Here you should find all the details you need for the logistics of a game weekend - what's included in your ticket, what you need to bring with you, all the other organisational questions you might have.

If you have a question not answered below, please get in touch!

The Site

4077 is held at Silverwood Scout Camp in Barnsley, their website has a lot of information about the site and is available here, but I have included some details below that should answer most common questions.

Getting There

Most SatNavs will recognise 'Silverwood Scout Camp', but their postcode is S75 4LB

The closest train stations are Silkstone Common or Dodworth, but the site is only a 15 minute drive from Barnsley train station, which may be easier to get to.

Closer to an event, posts will go up in the Facebook group and Discord to faciliate lift sharing, and arrangements will be made for station runs from site for those coming by train.

Sleeping Arrangements

The site has bunks in shared dormitories. These are dorms of 12/14 people and may be unisex. There are smaller dorm rooms that may be available, and single-gender rooms can potentially be arranged if required.

Bunks are allocated on a sign-up basis on arrival to site.

Bedding is not provided, please bring your own.

Camping is also an option, there is room for both IC and OC tents on site, though these will need to be supplied by yourself.

Catering

Events are fully catered, with 5 meals provided from Friday dinner to Sunday breakfast, as well as teas/coffess/water etc available between meals. You may bring your own snacks/drinks/alcohol, though we cannot guarantee any refridgeration space will be available to players (unless needed for medical reasons)

Dietary requirements will be accounted for - these are included in the EOI form, but any additional information can be supplied to the game runner at any time prior to the event.

Facilities

The site has on-site showers and toilets, including disabled facilities

There is electricity, though note access to outlets may be limited, and priority will be given to those who require outlets for medical devices.

The Game

Costume

You are responsible for providing your own costume.

Costume should be appropriate for early 1950s American Military, but does not have to be historically precise - a basic  olive drab shirt/trousers with army-style boots would be acceptable as a basic costume.

This is a game based on a TV show, so when in doubt consider the costume they use on M*A*S*H rather than historical accuracy (unless you want historical accuracy, in which case have fun)

There are often posts on the Facebook group and discord about sourcing costume, there is also a pinterest board here to help with ideas.

Props

Personal props are mostly supplied by players, although some things are provided by the game team. A lot of players will share their props (particularly medical) with other people, so please handle items with care if they do not belong to you, and ensure any borrowed items are returned at the end of the game.

If you are unsure about any personal props you feel are necessary for your game experience, please reach out to me to ask about them.

Game Areas

The majority of the game happens outside or in tents, so please be aware that bad weather may impact the game experience and ensure you dress accordingly.

The mess hall is an indoor area and this is open for IC use throughout the weekend as required.

Sleeping areas are out of character by default - this includes personal IC tents unless specified by the players they belong to.

The main game is contained within a small area, with some linears being a short (1-2 minute) walk away.

All IC areas are on ground level, with the first floor being used for crew purposes, though there may be uneven ground or areas where reduced mobility may cause an issue. The game runners will do everything in their power to reduce the impact of this on player accessibility, and adapt linear areas etc accordingly.
